LetX vs Texeno, side by side.
LetX's Pro is $180 a year and Texeno's Scholar is $75. Both include unlimited collaborators and GitHub sync. They differ on compile length and how a team is billed.
The short answer: pick Texeno for 8-minute compiles, a lower price than Pro and a lab price of $490 a year for 10 people. Pick LetX if you qualify for its half-price Academic Pro.

Teams and price
LetX bills a team per seat: $200 a seat a year, so $400 for 2 people, $2,000 for 10 and $5,000 for 25 at list price. On Texeno's Lab the same three groups cost $490, $490 and $940 a year. Lab is from $490 a year, sold in sizes of 10, 25, 50, and 100 members. The team shares 8 compiles at once and 50 GB. Only members of a Lab team count toward the team: people you invite to a single project are free and unlimited, as they are on LetX's plans.
For one person, Scholar is $75 a year against $90 for Academic Pro, which needs verified student or staff status, and $180 for Pro.
How the free plans differ
LetX lets a free compile run for up to 2 minutes but allows 40 compiles a day. Texeno stops a free compile at 30 seconds and counts none. A daily quota matters if you rely on auto-compile, which can use dozens of runs in an hour of writing. A longer limit matters if one build is heavy. Which suits you depends on your document.
History differs too. LetX keeps the last 15 versions on Free. Texeno shows the last 2 days on Free, however many versions that holds, and archives older versions rather than deleting them, so upgrading brings them back.
Choose LetX if
- You are a verified student or staff member and want the half-price plan with 5-minute compiles.
- You want a free plan that allows a 2-minute compile, within 40 compiles a day.
Choose Texeno if
- You need compiles longer than 5 minutes, up to 8 minutes.
- You want the lower price: $75 a year against $90 for Academic Pro or $180 for Pro.
- You run a lab: Lab is from $490 a year, sold in sizes of 10, 25, 50, and 100 members, against $200 a seat.
LetX's prices, limits and speed figures are from letx.app; its offline and Zotero rows were checked a day before the rest. Its speed figures are its own and measure compile plus queue, while ours measure a recompile after an edit, so do not read them as a like-for-like race. Check its pricing page before you decide.
